Fort Bunker Hill (1) (1861-186?) - Fort Bunker Hill was one of the approximately 68 forts that surrounded the city of Washington DC and protected it during the U.S. Civil War period from Confederate invasion. Construction began in fall 1861 and was completed in 1863. Named for the Revolutionary fort at Bunker Hill, Massachusetts. Abandoned in 186?.

Established in the fall of 1861 by the 11th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. Positioned between Fort Totten and Fort Lincoln. Thirteen guns and mortars were mounted in the fort.
Current Status
Limited remains in Bunker Hill Park, Washington DC.
