Fort Kent (1839-1845) - A U.S. Army post established in 1839 during the United States - Canada border dispute known as the Aroostook War in the town of Fort Kent, Aroostook County, Maine. Abandoned in 1845. Also known as Camp Jarvis.
Fort Kent History
Established in October 1839 at Camp Jarvis as a U.S. Army post. The fort was located at the confluence of the Fish River and the Aroostook River in Aroostook County, Maine.
Current Status
Reproduction blockhouse in Fort Kent, Aroostook County, Maine.
