Fort Carroll (3) (1861-186?) - One of the approximately 68 forts that surrounded the city of Washington DC and protected it during the U.S. Civil War period from Confederate invasion. Named after Major General Samuel S. Carroll. Abandoned in 186?.

A large U.S. Civil War earthworks fortification begun in September 1861. The fort mounted 13 guns and 1 mortar.
