First Battle of Bull Run (21 Jul 1861-21 Jul 1861) - A U.S. Civil War Battle fought between Union forces under Brigadier General Irvin McDowell,(Cullum 963), USA, and Confederate forces under Brigadier General P.G.T. Beauregard,(Cullum 942), CSA. Known by Union forces as First Battle of Bull Run, known by Confederate forces as First Manassas. The battle was fought near the town of Manassas in Prince William and Fairfax Counties, Virginia and resulted in a Confederate victory.
