Presidio of San Diego (1769-1831) - A Spanish Presidio established in 1769 by Spanish Governor Gaspar de Portola and Fray Junipero Serra in present day San Diego, San Diego County, California. Abandoned in 1831. Also known as Garrison at San Diego, Fort DuPont (3), Fort Stockton (3), Fort San Diego, Mission of San Diego, Post at Mission San Diego, San Diego Depot, Post of New San Diego, San Diego Barracks, El Presidio Real, Castillo de Guijarros.
