Fort No. 6 - NYC (1777-1779) - A British Revolutionary War fortification established in 1777 in New York City, Bronx County, New York. Destroyed and abandoned by the British in 1779.
History of Fort No. 6 - NYCA British Revolutionary War earthwork fortification established in 1777 in New York City during the British occupation of the City. In 1779 the British constricted their outer defense line to shift manpower to other locations and many of the outposts were destroyed and abandoned. Fort No. 6 was abandoned and destroyed by the British in 1779 as a part of this consolidation. Current StatusNo remains. Said to have been located on the present day V.A. Hospital grounds, near Kingsbridge Road and Sedgwick Ave.
