Battery Fort Point

Battery Fort Point (1943-1946) - Battery Fort Point was a 3 inch coastal gun battery built during World War II on the top Barbette tier of Old Fort Point on Fort Winfield Scott (2), San Francisco County, California. Battery construction started 25 Jul 1942, was completed 13 Aug 1942 and transferred to the Coastal Artillery for use 1 Jun 1943 at a cost of $ 1,361.02. Deactivated in 1946.

World War II

Part of the Harbor Defense of San Francisco.

Originally built as a World War II coastal gun battery on the top Barbette tier of Old Fort Point on Fort Winfield Scott. Armed with four 3" M1902MIMI guns mounted on M1902 Barbette carriages transferred from other batteries in the area.
