Battery Ridge

Battery Ridge (1890-1909) - Battery Ridge was a temporary Endicott Period, 15 inch coastal gun battery on Fort Baker, Lime Point, Marin County, California. Deactivated about 1909.

Endicott Period (1890-1910)

Part of the Harbor Defense of San Francisco.

Originally built as a temporary Endicott Period coastal gun battery with smoothbore 15" Rodman cannons mounted on 6" front pintle mounted Barbette carriages. The cannons were transferred from the Presidio of San Francisco circa 1890 to make way for the construction of Battery Cranston and Battery Miller . By 31 Dec 1909, the 15" Rodman cannons were dismounted and the carriages had been dismantled and sold.

Current Status

Part of the Golden Gate Recreation Area (GGNRA) administered by the National Park Service. No period guns or mounts in place. The 6" pintles can still be seen along with some portions of the pads.
