Fort Loring (1862-1863) - A Confederate post established in 1862 by General William W. Loring in Leflore County, Mississippi. Abandoned in 1863.

Fort Loring History

Established on an estate formerly known as "Cureton" owned by Colonel John D. McLermore near Itla Bena, Mississippi. Colonel McLemore furnished meat and corn to feed the troops.
