Fort King (1827-1842) - A U.S. Army post established in 1827 during the Second Seminole War by Captain James M. Glassell and two companies of the 4th U.S. Infantry, in present day Ocala, Marion County, Florida. Named for Colonel William King. Abandoned in 1842. Also known as Cantonment King or Camp King.
