Fort Stony Point (1779-1783) - A British Revolutionary War Fort established in 1779 by Sir Henry Clinton in Rockland County, New York. The fort was recaptured by patriot forces under General Anthony Wayne on 16 Jul 1779. The patriot forces withdrew on 18 July and the fort was reoccupied by the British until the fall of 1779 when they withdrew. Patriot forces reoccupied the fort and held it until the end of the war in 1783. Abandoned in 1783.
