Camp Rampart
Camp Rampart (1899-1901) - A U.S. Army Camp established in 1899 during the Alaska Gold Rush by Lieutenant Benjamin J. Tillman, 7th U.S. Infantry in present day Rampart, Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska. Abandoned in 1901.
Camp Rampart History
Established by Lieutenant Benjamin J. Tillman and a detachment of Company E, 7th U.S. Infantry on 27 Jul 1899. Provided protection for a miner supply base.
The post was abandoned on 1 Aug 1901.
