Camp Buckner (1) (1942-Present) - A World War II training camp first established as Camp Popolopen in 1942 on Popolopen Lake, Orange County, New York. Renamed Camp Buckner after General Simon Bolivar Buckner Jr., former commandant of cadets at the United States Military Academy, who was killed in action on 18 Jan 1945 during the battle for Okinawa in World War II. This camp serves as the summer training camp for USMA cadets. Active military camp.
