Highlands Military Reservation (1917-1920, 1940-1974) - First established in 1917 in Navesink, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Abandoned in 1974.

Endicott Period (1890-1910)

Part of the Harbor Defense of Southern New York. Established to provide protective shelter to U.S. shipping and to guard an important shipping channel into New York Harbor.
