Fort Wyoming (1771-1784) - A colonial fort established in 1771 during the Pennamite War by Captain Amos Ogden and Pennsylvania settlers in present day Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Captured and destroyed by Connecticut Yankee settlers. Rebuilt in 1778 as a Revolutionary War defense. Renamed Fort Dickinson (2) in 1783. Abandoned and destroyed in 1784.
Pennamite War (1769-1799)This was a colonial fort established in January 1771 during the Pennamite War by Captain Amos Ogden and Pennsylvania settlers. The fort was captured and destroyed by Connecticut Yankee settlers in a land claim dispute. The fort was rebuilt in 1778 as a Revolutionary War defense. Renamed Fort Dickinson (2) in 1783. Abandoned and burnt down in 1784 by Connecticut settlers as the Pennamite War came to an end and the land claims issue was resolved. Current StatusMarker only in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
