Battery 235 (1942-1946) - Battery 235 was a reinforced concrete, World War II 6 inch coastal gun battery on Fort San Jacinto, Galveston County, Texas. Battery construction started 13 Feb 1942, was completed 4 Nov 1944 and transferred to the Coast Artillery for use 28 Nov 1944 at a cost of $ 310,091.31. Deactivated in 1946.
World War II (1941-1945)Part of the Harbor Defense of Galveston. Originally built as an World War II concrete coastal gun battery with two 6" M1905A2 rapid fire guns mounted on M1 Barbette carriages placed on either side of an earth covered reinforced concrete support structure.
