Mission San Lorenzo de Ivitachuco History

The only Apalachee mission not destroyed in early 1704 during Queen Anne's War by English and Creek Indian forces under ex Carolina Governor James Moore. The Mission Indians turned over the church's gold and silver objects to the invaders and the mission/village was spared. The mission was abandoned a short time later and the people began the migration toward St. Augustine.
