Battery McIntosh (1) (1900-1923) - Battery McIntosh was a reinforced concrete, Endicott Period 8 inch coastal gun battery on Fort Dade (3), Egmont Key, Pinellas County, Florida. The battery was named in G.O. 78, 25 May 1903 after Ltc. James S. McIntosh, 5th U.S. Infantry, Bvt. Col., U.S. Army, veteran of the War of 1812, who died 26 Sep 1847 of wounds received at the battle of Molino del Ray, Mexico, 8 Sep 1847, during the Mexican-American War.
