Fort Zeller

Fort Zeller (1756-1758) - A settler fortification and refuge established in 1756 during the French & Indian War in the home of Heinrich Zeller in present day Newmanstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. Abandoned as a fortification in 1758. Also known as Zeller's Fort, Heinrich Zeller's Fort

Fort Zeller History

The Zeller family home was first built in 1723 as a log structure and rebuilt in 1745. The rebuilt structure was stone on the outside with heavy timbers and plaster walls inside. Also used by the Pennsylvania colonial militia

Current Status

Pennsylvania's oldest existing fort structure, includes a small museum. Access and tours given by appointment. On private property in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania
