Must See!
Active military installation and historic site, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Currently the home of the Royal 22nd Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces and the official residence of the Governor General of Canada.
Access by conducted tours only from the on-site visitor center located at the Dalhousie Gate. The tour covers the historic buildings with some inside access but not the buildings in current use. Not to be missed is the ceremonial changing of the guard at 10am every morning during the season (summer). Also not to be missed is the ceremonial "Beating the Retreat" at 6pm on Saturday also during the season. Call ahead for these ceremonies as military priorities may cause them to be canceled.
You can walk around the ramparts outside the active fort starting from below or you can start at the top, don't miss the harbor/city view from the north side. Lots of stairs if you come up from below.
