Fairview Point Battery (1942-1945) - Fairview Point Battery was a Canadian 8 inch coastal railroad gun battery on Kaien Island, British Columbia, Canada. Deactivated in 1945. World War II (1939-1945)Part of the Harbor Defense of Prince Rupert. An 8" railway battery with two M1888MI guns on M1918 barbette carriages on M1818A1 railway gun cars along with the associated ammunition and fire control cars. The rail car emplacements were located on spurs of the CNR mainline. The equipment was transferred from the Coast Artillery Replacement Center at Fort Eustis, Virginia on 15 Mar 1942. Operational from Jun 1942 to 28 Apr 1945. The equipment was transferred back to the Black Hills Ordnance Depot as of 30 Dec 1944.
